Wagyu Burger Adds Flavor To The Hangover Pub Menu

Wagyu Burger from Hangover Pub in Worcester, MA

One the latest additions to the Worcester food scene, The Hangover Pub, located on Green St., abutting the city parking lot, was the latest stop on the Foodies group tour.  For those of you who are familiar with the space, be prepared to be shocked.  It has gone through a very cool transition.  The vibrant colored walls that display eclectic, energetic art, the industrial flare that transcends through the furniture and the mellow funk/rock music help set a comfortable, adventurous atmosphere.

Our group of 18 was seated in the back room, which if I had to guess could hold around 30 people.  We were immediately greeted by the owner, Jay, who welcomed us with a warm introduction and background into the pub and future plans, short and long term.   I have to say, this guy had a very genuine enthusiasm about himself, a real eagerness to do whatever it takes to please his guests.  It’s great to see that in a restaurant owner.

Ok, so the food….One thing I’m always impressed with is uniqueness.  For me, there is nothing worse than seeing the same old Sysco supplied standard menu when trying a new restaurant. The Hangover menu is anything but.  Every item has a flare to it.  I began with the Man Candy, a serving of about a half dozen thick bacon strips glazed over with maple syrup and brown sugar.  My mouth is watering writing this.  If you like bacon, and why would you be here if you don’t?  You need to try this app.  Fantastic!

For my entrée I chose the Wagyu Burger.  A thick and perfectly cooked burger smothered in Grey Hill blue cheese, baby kale, bacon-onion jam, brioche and a side of house fries hit with smoked sea salt.  I will say this, if you don’t love blue cheese, stay away from this burger.  The 1/8” thick cut of cheese was a bit overwhelming for my liking.  However, I am not a huge blue cheese fan.  I could appreciate where the chef is going with the other ingredients, so I think for those who love blue cheese, you will definitely enjoy this burger.

Our service was over the top.  Extremely attentive and with great personalities.

I’m very excited about the Hangover Pub.  With its unique menu and its cool layout, great service and an owner who has a passion for success, I think this is a great addition to the quickly evolving canal district.  I’ll soon be back.
