Roasted Scallops

Roasted Scallops

Roasted Scallops

When staring at Zorba’s Taverna Restaurant and Bar’s large, orange menu, it can be quite overwhelming…with so many delicious sounding dishes, it’s a surprise that anyone can come to a decision. However, tonight I decided to go with the roasted scallops. This dish had fresh sea scallops in a creamy mix of bacon, tomatoes, scallions, garlic and herbs in a creamy Romano cheese sauce. My dinner was priced at $19.99, which for seafood, I did not think was priced too over the top. My meal was served to me on a heaping plate of pasta with colorful tomatoes and pink cream sauce accenting various pieces of the meal. The sauce had a nice smokey flavor to it from the bacon that permeated the scallops and pasta. The scallops were cooked perfectly and were quite plentiful. The tomatoes and scallions added a nice crunchy fresh texture note to the al dente pasta and sweet scallops. Overall, the dish was seasoned perfectly, but because of the Romano cheese sauce, was very filling and sat heavily in my stomach after the meal. However, for the price and the portion size, this is one of the best dinners that I have had in Worcester in quite sometime. Zorba’s is now on the top of my list for dining locations from here on out. -ED

Fish Tacos

The Fish Tacos from Smokehouse Urban Barbecue

Having gone to Smokestack Urban Barbecue many times in the past and enjoyed the traditional bbq/brisket, I thought I would try something a little different.  Lately tacos have been my food crave having read the Crispy Fired Tilapia Taco review from Mezcal Tequila Cantina and, luckily, Smokestack had a few taco choices on the menu. I went with the fish tacos and was not disappointed by the three semi large soft shelled tacos that took up the whole plate.

As expected the fish was a light white catfish that was thankfully lightly battered so it wasn’t greasy tasting at all. Accompanying the catfish in the soft taco/tortilla shells was a nice combination of cabbage and tomatoes tossed with a light chipotle aioli that gave it just a little kick. I could go for a little bit more heat but for those that are afraid of food being too spicy, this was on the mild side.  The tacos were great but I might recommend maybe just serving 2 tacos and instead include a choice of a side.
