Crunchy Burger from The Fix

The recently renovated space formerly occupied by the departure of the original Mezcal to their new larger restaurant lends itself well to Niche Hospitality Groups latest venture. The Fix is a welcome addition to Shrewsbury Street offering higher end burgers, cocktails and shakes.

After reviewing the menu I opted for a fairly traditional burger called “The Crunchy” which was their house hamburger mix topped with fried prosciutto, a Parmesan crisp, potato chips and garlic mayo, mustard and pickles on a sesame roll. For good measure (and to add a little health to this burger) I opted to add avocado. The burger was a well prepared perfectly cooked top quality hamburger. The Parmesan crisp was the highlight of the burger served like a slice of cheese this baked crunchy Parmesan crisp was a guilty pleasure similar to when you make a grilled cheese and eat the cheese that has crisped up in the bottom of the frying pan. The crispy prosciutto and avocado also added to make this a great burger.

The one area that I think could use a little improvement would be the fries. The fries I had as well as the other varieties I sampled all seemed like they could have benefitted from a little more seasoning and being a little crispier. Overall The Fix is a great choice if you are looking for a gourmet burger. The staff was friendly and helpful and the burgers were worth the trip.

Classic Burger with the Fixins

Classic Burger with the Fixins from The Fix on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester, MA

As many of my friends know, I’m a complete burger fan. I love me some amazing burgers. The Fix did not disappoint. I had a “build your own” burger with the “Classic” burger for the meat, on pretzel roll bun, and then added avocado, bacon and smoked gouda cheese with onion rings as my side.

I was overjoyed! It was a very large burger. More than a mouthful indeed. I had it cooked medium rare and it came out perfectly. The avocado was fresh and plentiful, yet not overpowering. I believe my combo of gouda, avocado and bacon and pretzel bun was amazing. I absolutely loved the onion rings. I’ve had so many different kinds over the years and these were wonderful, Large, thick and crispy. My fave and suggest them over the fries.

For a drink, or “remedy” I had the “Old Fashioned” Remedy: George Dickel No. 12 Whiskey, Yellow Chartreuse, Housemade Root Beer Syrup, Bitters / 10 (Served Over a Ball of Ice or Ice Cream Ball)

I substituted the ice ball for the ice cream ball (looks kinda like a snowball in your drink) I have to say, it’s one of my favorite drinks. Probably liked it too much.

The atmosphere was subdued lighting yet had the din of excited people enjoying themselves that evening.

Overall, I’d highly suggest going if you are a burger fan. With the options of creating your own, or ordering off the menu, you’ll have many burger options to keep you coming back again and again.
