Summer Love

Chef's Best dinner series allows unusual access to the chef and his creations.

There’s something romantic about an established restaurant – the sort of place that has seen thousands of dates, and maybe even an engagement or two. Nothing is more captivating than the right light, the din of deep conversation, and a sense that love is in the air.

The new open concept at Romaine’s in Westborough offers a continuous space that flawlessly merges kitchen, dining room, and bar. Vintage light fixtures provide a soft luminescence. Patterned blue trim tiles reappear throughout the restaurant, lending a cohesive aesthetic. Sit at the kitchen counter for a lively culinary display or find a seat at the bar for relaxing repartee.

Alicante Mediterranean Grille and Lounge in Mendon boasts breathtaking views of Nipmuc Pond. There’s no match for sprawling picture windows and splendid chandeliers like a cozy fireplace. Service is executed with intense precisions and irrefutable elegance. A table for two awaits!

Ask for a corner table in the glass-paneled nook of Avellino’s dining room for picturesque views of an antiquers wonderland. The primitive decor is straight out of Sturbridge Village. Soak up the soft glow pouring from authentic glass light fixtures and tinker with the handcrafted wood carvings on your table. Avellino is ripe for tete-a-tete.

Even on a cloudy evening, you can have dinner beneath the stars at Joey’s in Worcester. The gleaming bar area smacks of a Van Gogh painting. Get lost in the dim dining room and sip on a perfect martini.
