The Phat Albert

American dining evolved is certainly how Evo has tackled a traditional favorite with an all natural twist.

Evo’s Phat Albert is Worcester’s original stuffed burger made up of a 1⁄2 pound of All Natural Adams Farm ground beef, stuffed with a blend of American and cheddar cheese, baked in our 1600 degree stone hearth oven sealing in all the flavor, and accompanied with Alexia Oven Crinkle Classic fries topped with the “Cattleman” which includes BBQ sauce, sautéed onions, crispy bacon and cheese.

The burger itself was true to its name, as a fat round burger it is reminiscent of a hand rolled hamburger. Contrary to standards the “toppings” sat pleasantly below the burger allowing the first bite to focus on the bun, meat, and cheese stuffing before reaching the salty and sweet flavors of the bacon and BBQ sauce. The burger was truly stuffed, the melted cheese poured out of the burger after the first bite. Prepared perfectly, this burger satisfied and was hard to put down—partly because of the flavor and partly to prevent the melted cheese from pouring out onto the dish. The fries, classic all natural crinkle by Alexia boasted the flavor from the deliciously seasoned with sea salt & cracked black pepper.

American Kobe Burger

As it appears on menu: A 1⁄2 pound of ground 100% American Kobe beef flame grilled and accompanied by the regional toppings of your choice.

Facts on the Dish: This menu item allowed for a choice of one side dish including soup, rice or Alexia crinkle cut French fries, brown rice, snap peas, broccoli, or rice pilaf. In addition, you could have the burger prepared with regional toppings such as the Californian with sprouts and avocado, Cattleman with BBQ sauce and bacon, Fungus Among Us with mushrooms and tomato, Fenway Grand Slam with Italian sausage, peppers and onions or the Indian Double Dare with lettuce, tomato and ghost chili sour cream topping.

Review: I arrived at EVO with a tremendous appetite so right away I knew I would be having a burger. When I saw the 1/2 pound American Kobe burger on the menu it made my decision easy, all I needed was to choose how it would be prepared. I chose the Fenway Grand Slam so my 1/2 burger now came with italian sausage, peppers and onions – a meat lovers dream!

When my dish arrived it did not disappoint. The burger was massive (a true 1/2 pound) and there was plenty of sausage, peppers and onions piled on. The buttery brioche roll was perfectly caramelized on the outside and soft and delicious on the inside. I was underwhelmed by the brown rice side dish I chose, but it was the burger I was interested in anyway.

Because of the size of the burger I cut it in half and immediately I was disappointed as I ordered the burger medium rare and the burger was clearly overcooked. But when I tasted it, I changed my mind as the burger was perfectly tender and the addition of spicy italian sausage mixed well with the flavor from the burger. The brown rice side dish, which appeared to be more of an afterthought than anything else, was bland and flavorless.
