From the origins of ramen noodles distinctively starting as a soup arriving in Japan by Chinese tradesmen in the nineteenth century and fast-forwarding to its cultural embrace by America, the noodle has come a long way from its original representative of inexpensive food and labor. Popularized by a vast number of chefs in America, like celebrity chef David Chang, ramen noodle shops have been popping up in major cities since 2014. As the movement continues to spread strongly, cities like Worcester are lining up to open its doors to the world of noodles.

Mark your calendars for February 12, 2018, when STIX Noodle Bar will add a ramen noodle bar to the heart of the Grid District. Serving as a fast-casual eatery with classic and creative ramen bowls in a contemporary space, STIX Noodle Bar looks to give Worcester a peek into the ramen noodle craze that has swept through major cities like New York and Chicago. From fresh, hand-made curry, wok-inspired, teppanyaki to Japanese ramen dishes with an American twist, STIX Noodle Bar will service the area in “lighting fast speed.” STIX is part of the New England Craft Restaurant Concepts which also introduced the Brew Beer Garden and Brew On The Grid.

With BrothWorcester’s dedicated first ramen shop – scoring a 4.5 rating on Yelp and a steady cult-like following since its opening in October, we wonder if STIX Noodle bar will be the tipping point we all need to bring more ramen shops to Worcester.
