Tipsy Goat at Corner Grille

Tipsy Goat Pie from Corner Grille in Worcester, MA

The Corner Grille has been around for years in Worcester and has been well known for its distinct thin crust pizza. If you are looking for a deep dish heavy pizza you would be best served going elsewhere or ordering something different like their fantastic wraps, salads, or prepared meals. If you appreciate a good thin crust pizza than Corner Grille will excite your palate. Corner Grille offers a fun casual atmosphere and serves up a great take out business. I always prefer to eat in at Corner Grille as the thin crust pizza in my opinion is best consumed straight from the oven.

After a quick look at the menu I decided to order The Tipsy Goat. The Tipsy Goat is a thin crust pizza with a leek sauce serving as its sauce instead of a red or white sauce. Topped with chicken, goat cheese, arugula, and prosciutto the TG has many of my favorite ingredients paired and balanced so that all they complimented each other and none overpowered the combination. The Corner Grille takes thin crust pizza to a whole new level, the pizzas are so thin that I have even heard the crust described as cracker like. The best description of the crust for me would be a large matza cracker like crust topped with perfectly paired toppings. Other pizza’s worth mentioning are the harvest moon pie and the chicken ceasar salad pie.

Corner Grille is the perfect combination of thin crust pizza’s, wraps, salads and desserts served in a friendly comfortable neighborhood setting. Every neighborhood should have a fun, comfortable, delicious place like the Corner Grille.
If you haven’t been the Corner Grille, their food, and the fun hip staff are definately worth visiting when your in the area.

Caveman Pizza from Corner Grille

Caveman Pizza from Corner Grille on Pleasant Street in Worcester, MA

Caveman Pizza from Corner Grille on Pleasant Street in Worcester, MA

January’s Foodies adventure brought our group to the Corner Grille on Pleasant Street, a great spot I hadn’t enjoyed for a few years. The front of the restaurant is small with limited seating, but comfortable, casually decorated with bright colors and a funky, cozy feel. The big chalkboard menu described some unusual, but interesting pizzas choices…but my eyes were fixated on the Caveman, a delightful combination of red sauce, pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, bacon, mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese. Did I mention it had meat on it? The rest of the pizza menu look enticing also…Chicken Pesto, Greek, Buffalo Chicken, even a Chicken Curry pizza. But I stuck with my original thought and was not disappointed.

The pizza has to be eaten to be understood. My words will not do it justice. First off, it is 14″ square with a super thin, crispy crust. The toppings are fresh and plentiful, the sauce is sweet, rich and flavorful and the spicy red pepper flakes I added made this pizza one of the most enjoyable casual meals I have had in a long time. As I finished my last bite I wondered to myself why I hadn’t been back to this wonderful hidden gem.

To top off a great meal, the owner sent our table a sampling of their homemade desserts….red velvet whoopee pies, peanut butter and chocolate brownies and molasses filled, oatmeal whoopee pies that were decadently delicious! I also noticed huge cookies, rice crispy treats and more at the counter.

They also have a large selection of salads, wraps and sandwiches, as well as hummus, tabbouleh, grape leaves, chicken pot pie, shepherds pie and mac and cheese to take home from their market display.

Corner Grille is not your typical pizza place, in fact it is one of Worcester’s most unique pizza establishments and one that I will be going to again in the very near future and highly recommend that you try it also!
