Last night’s Whole Foods Market Influencer tour revealed Shrewsbury’s new 50,000 square foot outpost of “America’s healthiest grocery store.” Nods to the site’s former tenant, Spag’s, were not lost among the mountains of natural and organic products. A lot has changed in the interim, though it should be noted that both retailers’ share a firm opposition to plastic bags. Spag’s original marquee sign marks the grandest restoration of its kind in Whole Foods history. Other homages to the famed discount retailer include Olive’s Flower Shop (named for Anthony ‘Spag’ Borgatti’s wife) as well as the Borgatti Bar. Attendees left with to-go containers of prepared foods and gift bags packed with complimentary groceries. Whole Foods Market Shrewsbury will open to the public on January 30th at 10 a.m. Cowboy hats are encouraged.
