Live music has always been a big part of the fabric that makes up Worcester. Big bands graced the city in 1940’s….the El Morocco was smoking hot in the 60’s….Sinatra opened the Centrum and the Rolling Stones, the greatest rock and roll band of all time, played Sir Morgan’s Cove (The Lucky Dog) in the 80’s. Worcester has the nation’s oldest music festival – the Worcester Music Festival hosting world-renowned orchestras and grand stages like Mechanics Hall and the Hanover Theater keep music and performance alive and well. Great live music of all types can be found throughout Worcester in small coffee houses, at dedicated music organizations, bars and clubs, neighborhood music festivals and of course, the DCU Center. No matter what type of music you are looking for including chamber music, the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, opera, rock and roll, folk, alternative, funk, Paulie’s New Orleans Jazz and Blues Festival, jazz, hip hop and more, you can find it in Worcester so grab some friends and go “listen to the music”…here are some of our favorites.
