Swordfish Hibachi Dinner

I chose to go with the Hibachi dinner here at Hirosaki Prime and I was not disappointed (although it was a tough choice because the rest of the menu looked outstanding).  The chefs were pretty talented with their tricks and enthusiastic too. The soup and salad you get with the hibachi dinner were both awesome – I really liked the dressing on the salad. I also liked that you had the option for either the miso soup or onion soup – something I haven’t seen other hibachi restaurants offer before. I chose the onion soup was  it hot and comforting as soup should be.  I opted to get the friend rice also cooked on the hibachi grill and it was yummy with their signature mayo based sauce drizzled all over it, although I was slightly disappointed it didn’t come standard with the meal ( of coarse those who prefer plain sticky rice I am sure would appreciate this).  I’ve been to many Hibachi restaurants and I’ve ordered many things from the menu, but this was the first place I have ever ordered swordfish – and what a treat it was. I was a bit apprehensive about picking the swordfish because it is so easy to over cook , but it was rewarded and it was perfectly cooked and smothered in a sweet teriyaki sauce.

It did take awhile, from the time we got there to the time I left, but it was dinner and a show, and the food was delicious so I didn’t mind so much. Hirosaki Prime seems to have a some unique tricks which make it stand out from your typical hibachi restaurants – and worth the try. -SB

Filet Mignon Hibachi Dinner

One of the best things about Worcester Foodies is that I am exposed to a new restaurant almost every month. My wife and I tend to favor the same, albeit wonderful, restaurants, all located within a five minute drive of our Worcester home. If it were not for Foodies I don’t know if I would have made the whopping 14 minute drive to Hirosaki Prime, and that would have been a shame. The décor is cool and contemporary, the service was excellent, and the food was artfully prepared and quite good. I chose the Filet Mignon (“aged to perfection”) for $23.99 and the fried rice for an additional $2.99. I was also offered and accepted miso soup instead of the onion soup listed on the menu. The miso soup offered subtle, delicate flavors, and the dressing on the salad was ginger perfection. As for the main course, just a few simple, quality ingredients quickly chopped and fried in front of our table made for a light and flavorful meal. The meal, including appetizer and drinks was a little on the expensive side, but the atmosphere and the chef’s performance cooking at our table made for a good value for the evening. Hirosaki Prime is a solid choice for Worcesterites looking to celebrate a special occasion or create a memorable first date. Even if it is, you know, a whole 14 minutes from downtown. -JD
