Worcester’s Source for Where It’s Happening…

The city of Worcester is currently undergoing a boom where businesses, both large and small, are setting roots with long term investments.

Worcester's Resource For Where It's Happening...FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Worcester, MA — WorcesterScene.com announced today they have come to an agreement with the City of Worcester’s Division of Economic Development to supply their proprietary database of Worcester-based restaurants to city’s marketing web site. Starting today, MassFoodies.com will deliver the most current directory of restaurants bars and clubs to visitors of WorcesterMass.org.

“In Central Massachusetts, thousands of searches are done everyday as people look for information on a particular restaurant or entertainment venue,” said Luke M. Vaillancourt, founder of WorcesterScene.com. “At WorcesterScene, we track, publish and maintain the most accurate listing, making it easier for the public to find the information they need. With this partnership, we will more easily be able to provide that information to visitors of WorcesterMass.org,” he added. “This new partnership shifts the burden of maintaining the directory from the City to our organization and since we are donating our technology as good faith to the city, it eliminates any additional strain on government resources. Plus, we have the internal team to continually update our directory, ensuring it remains up-to-date and useful as people in and around Worcester make their entertainment and dining plans,” Vaillancourt added.

“The dining and entertainment industry is critical to the economy of Worcester so when this opportunity arose, we were quick to sign on,” said Erin Williams, Cultural Development Officer. “This partnership allows us to continue to develop and promote important creative economy initiatives like our WOO Card program. The directory WorcesterScene has developed for us is tailored to promote creative industries and encourage the consumer to live, learn, work and play in Worcester County,” said Williams.

“Worcester has seen amazing growth the past few years and the current environment is prime for encouraging even more growth,” said Vaillancourt, “We believe WorcesterScene’s partnership with the City will help continue to fuel that growth,” he added.

Restaurant owners that have a restaurant in Worcester-proper have the opportunity to add or modify their listing by contacting WorcesterScene.com directly, either through their online submission form or through 617-858-1834.

GoLocalWorcester Partners With WorcesterScene.com to Bring Worcester’s Only Digital-Native News To Central MA Marketplace

Worcester, MA (February 14, 2012) WorcesterScene.com and GoLocal24 today announced that they have entered into a partnership with GoLocal24’s newest brand GoLocalWorcester.com. The partnership between the two is the initial strategic step in creating a dominant foothold within the digital news industry in Central Massachusetts.

“Partnering with WorcesterScene.com is tremendous for us and ultimately for our readers. The goal of a news organization has to be to promote the best content – the reader wins,” said Josh Fenton, Co-Founder and CEO of GoLocal24.

GoLocal24’s brand GoLocalProvidence.com broke into the news marketplace in Providence, Rhode Island generating a more than 600,000 monthly page views and quickly capturing an audience away from traditional news sources because of its on-line strategy, immediacy and integration with social media.

“GoLocal24 is the epitome of the disruptive innovator. We have developed a model for creating an ecosystem of content-driven relationships in a mid-size market. Finding a strategic partner in Worcester was essential when looking to bring this news service to New England’s second largest city,” said Fenton. GoLocal24 successfully closed a second round of financing led by Cork Media and Angel Street Capital in December of 2011.

WorcesterScene.com is laser-focused on the hospitality, entertainment and art industries in Worcester and maintains arguably the most up-to-date listings of businesses in those industries. It has become the most trusted source to find out where to eat, drink, and be cultured in Worcester.

Founder, Luke M. Vaillancourt says, “WorcesterScene.com’s focus has never been as a news source, so we are more than thrilled to be partnering with an organization that understands not only the technologies used to deliver breaking news stories, but also understands the desires of the reader. We have no doubt that this partnership will help bolster how Worcesterites interact with what’s going on in their region.”

Time and technology will be necessary to implement the plan. Initially, GoLocalWorcester, once launched, will be feeding news stories to the WorcesterScene.com audience. Relevant information drawn from the subscription of the WorcesterScene directory will be interjected within the GoLocalWorcester site to provide it’s readers with the most up to date information without the hassles of having to search for possibly incorrect information.

This partnership is effective immediately and will be rolling out over the course of the month. WorcesterScene.com is currently under the process of revamping it’s technology to better fit the information being made available through GoLocalWorcester.

About WorcesterScene.com

WorcesterScene.com was designed and developed by Luke M. Vaillancourt for the sole purpose of having a single resource for people to find the hidden treasures of Worcester. Over the years, WorcesterScene has evolved to serve many needs. It was first created to simply provide an up-to-date resource of restaurants, bars and clubs, and the galleries in the city to help expose the hidden gems that the city had to offer, but might not have a marketing budget to advertise. Over time, WorcesterScene has branched off several microsites and organizations, including WorcesterFoodies. These microsites stay true to the core purpose of WorcesterScene’s mission, but help to add a more detailed element to help the site’s visitors make a decision on where to go and why. The nature of the Internet is not unlike the nature of Worcester; it is constantly growing and so is WorcesterScene.
