Pollo Con Rappini

Pollo Con Rappini at Piccolo's on Shrewsbury Street

Restaurant: Piccolo’s, Shrewsbury Street

As it appears in the menu: Sauteed chicken, broccoli, roasted garlic, a little red chile, extra virgin olive oil with linguine (added Clem’s sausage as recommended by the server).

The Facts: Generous portion of spaghetti, chicken, crumbled sausage and broccoli served with a light olive oil sauce. At least two meals worth.

Foodie’s Review: It truly tastes like a homemade meal—only better (sorry, dear!. Simple, fresh ingredients, very well prepared. The recommended addition of spicy sausage added just the right flavor and consistency. Looking forward to tomorrow’s left overs.

Crispy Fried Boneless Chicken

Mezcal's Menu Description: Fresh breast of chicken with red jalapeno, caramelized onion, and sour cream mashed potato with a Mexican-style espresso gravy.

This plentiful boneless chicken breast is very lightly breaded and fried, served over a mashed potato (with “red jalapeno, caramelized onion, sour cream,” garlic and a blend of cheeses). The chicken’s light, yet crispy, textured batter compliments the smooth moist consistency of the chicken. Lightly cooked and cooled loose leafed spinach accompanies both the potatoes and chicken acting as canvas for the robust flavors of the Mexican-style espresso gravy. Available at Mezcal Tequila Cantina.
