Friday, March 8, 2013 — The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields is one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world, renowned for its polished and refined sound, rooted in outstanding musicianship. Formed in 1958 from a group of leading London musicians and working without a conductor, the Academy gave its first performance in its namesake church in November 1959. The Academy performs 100 concerts around the world each year. In 1993, the Academy became the first and only orchestra honored with the Queen’s Award for Export. Equally loved in New York and Nuremberg, the AcademyÕs mission is to bring its unique interpretation of classical music to all parts of London, of Britain, and all parts of the World!

“If classical concerts always reached the exciting energy demonstrated by this partnership, moguls of the classical industry could stop worrying about how to keep the tradition alive.” – The Australian

New Gallery at Worcester Historical Museum

My-Pictures22The Alden Family Gallery offers a new type of museum experience for children, families, teachers, school groups, and members to interact, explore, and discover Worcester history in a creative, community inclusive and in imaginatively new way.

Designed to incorporate four distinct spaces: CitySquare, which represents Worcester’s continued development; Salisbury Store, which connects children to late 18th century Worcester; The Factory, which focuses on the ingenuity of six Worcester residents; and Mrs. B’s Diner, where the past meets the present through oral histories, music and imaginative-play.

Each space offers options for imaginative play as well as opportunities to use math building skills, problem-solving and design skills with creative thinking. The Alden Family Gallery enhances the experience at Worcester Historical Museum for visitors from that of a passive viewer into an active participant through learning and play.
