We drink it, but we’ve never seen it like this before.

On September 23, 2011, nationally recognized and collected artist Thomas Arvid will be at Dzian Gallery for a meet and greet. The event, “An Evening with Thomas Arvid” will be held from 6:00-9:00pm at Dzian Gallery at 65 Water Street in Worcester. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the renowned artist and view his artwork, including his two newest pieces, “Golden Opportunity” and “Private Moment.”

This will be Arvid’s second visit to Dzian Gallery. “We’ve had the pleasure of having Thomas here before, and it was a fantastic evening. We’re really looking forward to having him here again for this event,” said David Papazian, who owns Dzian Gallery with his wife Gina Papazian.

“Wine is a great subject because people are familiar with it; they really connect to it. My paintings speak to the special moments that people share when they drink wine together – it’s amazing that my collectors find a personal fulfillment in my work, especially when I’m just doing what I love,” said Arvid.

The magic of his painting is in Thomas Arvid’s ability to visualize and chronicle an entire scene beyond the frame – to tell a story of enjoyment and the good life – using rich color and masterful composition.

Thomas Arvid is passionate about art and wine, a collector of both, he strives to capture the pleasure of a life well lived on each canvas. An Atlanta resident and fresh-faced father of two young sons, the self-taught artist insists that wine should be approachable; his paintings are an embodiment of the casual way that we enjoy wine today. He is an appealing role model for a lifestyle of easy elegance and unpretentious charm.

It is clear from his beautiful works of photorealism why his paintings are so feverishly sought after throughout the U.S. and internationally!

Dive Thursday #200

Good beer and great music are the keys to success for most bars. For The Dive Bar on Green Street, they have paid careful attention to both when starting The Dive Bar Thursday Music Series (“Dive Thursday”) just under four years ago. Founded by Dive Bar and Armsby Abbey owner, Alec Lopez, along with Worcester music legend Duncan Arsenault, both decided to bring musicians in each week (over 50 musicians have performed to date) and make some great music. Combining the best aspects of a jam band and a house band, the rotation of musicians have provided a true experience on Thursdays.

On June 9th, Dive Thursday will be celebrating it’s 200th Thursday with Craig Rawding (vocals, harp), Brooks Milgate (B3), Paul Buono (keys), Jon Short (guitar, vocals), Dmitry Gorodetsky (bass), BT (trombone), Pete Levesque (sax) and Duncan Arsenault (drums). Weather permitting; the outdoor beer garden will be a welcome way to enjoy the music.

In addition to the music, Dive Bar will be celebrating the launch of Sixpoint Brewing Company’s new 16oz Nano Kegs with Sweet Action, Righteous, Bengali and Crisp Pils being available! The Dive Bar is known for it’s low profile and great selection of beers on tap, including but not limited to: The Bruery Mischief, Firestone Walker Dbl Jack, Founders Old Curmudgeon, Haverhill Hoppy as Helles, Victory Summer of Love, Pretty Things Field Mouse, Allagash Victoria and Clown Shoes Belgian IPA. Looking for Coors Light? Not here. Nor does The Dive Bar accept credit cards.

Some of the 50+ musicians that have played at Dive Thursday include, Hugh Allen, Helen Beaumont, Jeff Burch, John Cooke, Anne Eggleston, Troy Gonyea, Dino Govoni, Pete Levesque, Shana Morrison, Scott Ricciuti, DJ Shame, Zack Slik, Chuck Vath, and Al Vaudreuil.
