Steak Frites at New England's first Bacon Gastro Pub, The Hangover Pub.

The Hangover Pub, also known as New England’s FIRST Bacon Gastro Pub, is one for the books! After walking in, the first things I noticed were the dim lighting, the chill music and the eccentric decor. It instantly reminded me of Armsby Abbey and I was excited to get seated and begin this bacon journey.

To start, I ordered the featured red sangria and followed it with a “Cocky Rooster,” which was basically a spicy, Mexican beer. Both were great. The table ordered a variety of small plates, all bacon themed, the Smoked Parmesan & House Cured Bacon Chips being my favorite. I’m a sucker for kettle cooked chips and these seriously exceeded my expectations.

For my main event I went with the Steak Frites. The steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare, and the truffle fries that accompanied it had a subtle hint of lime which was different, yet enjoyable.  All of their plates, from appetizer to entree, were presented beautifully.

Service was excellent, especially for the amount of people in our party. Our waitress was attentive and I’ve never seen so much passion in a restaurant owner. He had come over to us when we first arrived, as well as while we were finishing up dinner. He shared the meaning behind the restaurant name and some really exciting upcoming events including Tuesday movie nights with bacon popcorn and a dog friendly patio with bacon doggy treats. I’m thrilled to spend a decent amount of time there this summer making furry friends!

I really enjoyed The Hangover Pub. From it’s unique craft cocktails, unconventional decor and nothing short of amazing menu, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy, even if you aren’t a huge bacon fan (which would be strange and unusual).

Sit at the bar with an order of bacon potato chips and a cocktail or reserve a table in the back and enjoy an affordable, delicious dinner. It’s places like The Hangover Pub that make Boston jealous.
