The Parkway Diner on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester may not look like your typical diner, but it is. Recently renovated to add a fairly large dining room, the menu still offers your traditional diner fare.
For an appetizer, I split an order of the cheese fries with my wife. They were pretty much exactly what I expected, an order plenty large for 2 people (would have been way too much for 1) with 2 kinds of cheese and bacon. Greasy and filling, they were quite good and satisfying.
For a main course, I tried the steak tips. A decent sized portion, about the size of a medium steak, served over rice pilaf with the vegetable of the day. I had a choice of corn and peas or broccoli, I went with the broccoli. Again, pretty much what I expected out of a diner. The tips were basic but seasoned and cooked nicely with a nice flavor, though nothing fancy. The rice was a little on the dry side, but the portion was large and again, the flavor was nice. The broccoli was overcooked though and fairly mushy, with very little texture left.
Overall a basic, but good, meal for the price paid, with your typical diner atmosphere. You can even play Keno while eating. –DL
