Our group of 15 sat comfortably around one of Takara’s two teppanyaki grills. The bright clean atmosphere was conducive to the friendly banter that started immediately upon our arrival. It was a Tuesday evening and we were the only guests except for maybe one other person sitting at the bar. Several of us ordered sushi and drinks to start and were promptly served. After the friendly, chipper waitress took orders for the main course the wait began. For some reason there seemed to be some confusion as to what we had all ordered. Then after what seemed like 30 minutes the chef came out and went around with a pad confirming everyone’s order. He then conferred with the waitress at the computer station… and we waited some more.

And eat we did. I had the steak and vegetables which as very good … definitely worth the wait. I suspect that we caught them a little off guard–15 people all at once, relatively new wait staff, and maybe a computer glitch or something. I’m not sure what happened but I would give them another chance–the sushi was fresh, the main course delicious, and all the people there were very friendly and gracious.
