Funny how you see things all the time and never really see them.
This was the case for Rosalina’s Kitchen. My wife and I have lived in the Hamilton Hill area for many years now and had driven by Rosalina’s Kitchen almost daily. Never did we think to stop and try it. And if it wasn’t for our Foodies group, I still may not have. This is how “word of mouth” marketing works. It just takes one foodie to mention a location and the other’s follow.
I was incredibly surprised by the amount of people there on a Wednesday night. Not usually a busy night for restaurants. It was casual, relaxed, warm and inviting. Definitely a locals spot but welcoming none the less. For a party as large as ours, it was a tight fit and the place was packed!
There were so many yummy options on the menu. However, I have a relatively peasant taste, so I ordered the “macaroni and sausage”. However as all the pasta is hand made, you have several choices besides the macaroni. I opted for the Gemelli. A “1” inch long spiral shaped pasta.
There were two sausages served on top of the Gemelli with a light portion of red sauce to top it all off. The sausage was very flavorful and had a hint of anise in it. Wasn’t really prepared for that, but it was nicely balanced with the rest of the flavors. The portion size was definitely more than I could handle, but it was nice to have the experience once again for lunch the next day.
Overall, the experience was a very good one. I’ll definitely be back with family and friends. I just wished I had stopped in before. Thanks to my fellow foodies for the suggestion!
