Chuan Shabu is about an experience; one you share with friends. It’s about warm soup in a hot pot with fresh veggies and thinly sliced beef, pork, and seafood. This all mixed with a very upscale atmosphere with soft lighting made for a relaxing evening with friends.
What I loved the best about this experience at Chuan Shabu was is the fun we all had taking part, chatting and enjoying the communal experience of the food preparation. The raw food is served fresh and beautifully presented. What I found interesting was the many variations of broths that could be chosen: from very spicy to a simple base. We chose to try both the base broth and a herbal broth and couldn’t decide which we liked most. Our friends next to us chose the Mala, which was very spicy and after a small taste, I can say that I would not recommend that for people who cannot do even the least moderate “spice.”
I would highly recommend Chuan Shabu as a wonderful first date or small group outing. We have been several times now and will continue to go in the future.
