The Rogan Josh at Surya Indian Restaurant consisted of chunks of lamb with onion, ginger, and garlic simmered in spices and yogurt sauce. The chucks of meat were tender and well seasoned. Typically, Indian sauces are homogenous, however, I would prefer a sauce with more texture. My palette could not distinguish the onion, ginger, and garlic but the final outcome was rich in flavor. I also ordered the Riata, which is described as cool whipped yogurt with cucumbers, tomato, and mint. This reminded me of Middle Eastern tzatziki, but with the addition of chunks of tomato and mint. I imagine the Riata is intended to be a condiment, perhaps as a dipping sauce for the naan – but was equally as pleasing with basmati rice or even alone as a cold soup. The dining experience at Surya was pleasant and the wait staff outstanding – I will definitely return. -DO
